"Some people have too much to say about nothing mutch at all" ...liet Justin Curtis fijntjes opmerken bij het verschijnen van het album "Talk, Talk, Talk" ('04) en anno 2009 is er nog steeds geen verbetering in zicht.

Onderzoekcommissies die zich in alle bochten wringen om de waarheid maar niet aan het licht te brengen,verraad, corruptie en doofpot operaties ...het staat allemaal in schril contrast met het handelsmerk van Justin Curtis & Sally Jo, namelijk " Songs about love, trains and bad weather, stompin' hillbilly honky tonkin' tunes with a rockabilly boom - chicka - boom beat. Het duo uit California steekt hun terechte bewondering voor Johnny Cash & June Carter niet onder stoelen en banken ( zie het album "Hillbilly Favorites") en ook op hun nieuwste schijfje "Shoulda Known Better" krijgt the Man in Black met "Ring Of Fire, fall in love and burn in hell" en "Get Rhythm, when you get the blues" een eresaluut.  Paying tribute to our roots by playing classic country songs and some rockabilly licks heet dat in muzikantentaal en ook de opvolger "Shoulda Known Better" bouwt op hetzelfde stramien voort. "Nothing Lasts Forever" is another great country divorce song, "Old Fashioned Love" ( a last chance for a romance) with Brantley Kearns on fiddle, producer Russel Broom on guitar, mandolin, keyboards, lap steel en Chris Lawrence on pedal steel en "Scarlett Jayne" (pretty name, pretty girl, broken heart) horen als vanzelfsprekend thuis in dit country / heal your heartbreak wereldje. 
 

"Bye Bye Love" zou je dan denken maar die duivelse hormonen laten je niet met rust .... het op het (graatmagere) lijf van Guido Belcanto geschreven "Ride Into The Night" ( all about falling in love and running from the law), "The Ways of Love" (how to get a girl to say "Yes" to your marriage proposal in 3 minutes or less) en "the Lonely Side of Lonesome" zijn de boodschappers van dienst ....Rootsville is uiteraard niet verantwoordelijk voor wat u beslist en de eventuele gevolgen maar denk er aan ......  the psych ward is no place to meet women !  No Apology Intented.
